The early years of childhood are a time of wonder, imagination and rapid development. At Silver Tree, we offer a nurturing and unhurried start to learning – one that honours this important stage of life.
From birth to around seven years, children learn best through play, movement, imitation and real-life experiences. Our early childhood programs are designed to support this natural development, creating a strong foundation for future learning.
Our early childhood spaces are warm, simple and thoughtfully prepared. Natural materials, gentle rhythms and a connection to the seasons help children feel secure and at ease.
Here, children are not rushed. Instead, they are given time to explore, create and engage in their own way – building confidence, independence and a sense of belonging.
In the early years, learning is deeply experiential. Children engage in imaginative play, storytelling, music, movement and practical activities such as baking, gardening and caring for their environment. These experiences support language development, coordination, social skills and early problem-solving.
Through this approach, children develop the foundations they need for later academic learning, along with a genuine love of discovery.
A gentle, predictable rhythm shapes each day. From free play to circle time, shared meals and outdoor exploration, children come to know what to expect. This sense of rhythm helps them feel secure and supports emotional wellbeing, focus and engagement.
Simple rituals – such as singing together, sharing food or listening to a story – create moments of connection and calm within the day.
Our bushland campus is an extension of the classroom. Children spend time outdoors each day, exploring, playing and developing a natural relationship with the environment. Whether it’s climbing, digging, observing wildlife or simply being in nature, these experiences support physical development, resilience and a sense of care for the world around them.
Our playgroup provides a calm and structured environment where children can explore, create and begin to engage more fully in group experiences.
Each session follows a gentle rhythm, including free play, baking, circle time, shared meals, outdoor play and storytelling. Parents remain present, supporting their child while also becoming part of the community.
Playgroup fees are $170 per term, with the option to spread payments across the year. If you have any questions, our Playgroup Leader or school office will be happy to help.

Kindergarten marks an important step towards more independent learning. Children continue to learn through play, imagination and meaningful activity, while gradually building the skills and confidence needed for primary school. Stories, songs, creative play and practical tasks form the foundation for literacy, numeracy and social development.
