Steiner Education

A Steiner education provides your child with an experience rich in discovery, imagination and deep engagement – a place where they can learn, grow and develop a sense of purpose and direction.

Steiner education is renowned for fostering the human spirit in children, allowing them to flourish in a holistic learning environment that is oriented towards moral growth, social consciousness and citizenship. Steiner schools seek to nurture each individual and connect them to the reverence and awe of the natural environment, one another, and the world around them. Schools are grounded in working artistically, spiritually, practically and intellectually. As well as being integrated, the curriculum is broadly based, interdisciplinary and culturally rich.

Founded in the early 20th century, Steiner or Waldorf education as it is known in other parts of the world, is based on the insights, teachings and principles of education outlined by the world-renowned philosopher, artist and scientist Rudolf Steiner.

The principles of Steiner education evolve from an understanding of human development that address the needs of the growing child. Steiner schools cherish the right of children to childhood and this is reflected in the developmentally appropriate Australian Steiner Curriculum that Silver Tree Steiner School follows.

Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum

As part of their primary school education, all children at Silver Tree Steiner School, learn about child safety through a very comprehensive curriculum called Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum.  Our teachers have received explicit training in the use of the curriculum and are delivering this to our children every year.

The Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum is an evidence-based respectful relationships and child safety curriculum that teaches all children and young people they have the right to be safe and they can help themselves to be safe by talking to people they trust.  The curriculum was developed in South Australia and is constantly being updated to ensure it stays relevant and responsive to our times. The Keeping Safe curriculum was developed collaboratively with child protection experts, teachers, educational leaders and other professionals, and has international recognition
